#DesaCottage was a home renovations project in Culver, Indiana. Initially, the client thought they would rent this home on Airbnb. In being mindful of the home’s value and the potential rental possibilities, we kept the renovations and furniture investment to match in a budget-conscious manner.
We repainted the entire home. Minor renovations were performed. All furniture, artwork, and accessories were updated. With all of the renovations being performed within a tighter budget, we had to get creative.
We value-engineered our design concepts by sourcing items that were a quick ship. We used items made by local artists and shopped at economical retail stores. Dramatic lighting served as a statement piece. Creativity was brought in by using a table runner as a headboard in one of the bedrooms. This beautifully redesigned home renovations project is now complete.
Barn doors, carefully curated paint colors, and unique lighting play against the wood floors—Built-ins and shiplap help create that cottage feel. Overhauled outdoor spaces and purposefully placed vibrant colors lead to a modern boho vibe. The homeowner now spends much more time at DesaCottage than initially anticipated. What was once expected to be rented out on Airbnb has become this homeowner’s favorite weekend retreat.
