This week, our team headed to Highpoint, North Carolina for the semi-annual furniture market. Our goal was to scout out the latest design trends, test the quality of sourced items, and get a feel for what’s to come in the world of interior design. Here’s a recap of what we found:
Bleached woods are on their way out, making room for warmer and more refined woods like burl wood, Birds Eye maple, and walnut. Travertine stone is making a comeback in tables and a stone look in lighting fixtures, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.
We noticed a trend of layering rugs and hides, as well as grouping of tables and mirrors. Minimalistic accessorizing is no longer in, with a shift towards larger and more crowded accessories. Curved and hard edges are being mixed to balance each other out, creating a harmonious design.
Lower profile seating and oversized chaise lounges are on the rise, along with diagonal stitching and graining details for added visual interest. Channel details in stitching and heavy tweed fabrics are also popular choices.
When it comes to color, variations of green and orange/rust tones are the hottest picks of the season. And in outdoor furniture, comfort is key. The industry has made great strides in creating outdoor furnishings that are as stylish and comfortable as their indoor counterparts.
Stay ahead of the curve with these furniture design trends that are sure to make a statement in your home this season.
