A unique historical whiskey bar that takes you on a flavourful journey through time.
Historical trading post in East Dundee, Illinois now turned unique Whiskey Bar.
The building was originally built in 1855, making it one of the oldest buildings in town. It has stood the test of time and still stands proud two centuries later as the historic trading post and part of East Dundeeās past.
The walls are made from solid timber, the original beams and trusses still remain in place and the beautiful design of its interior creates a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The project was to retain the historical charm while modernizing the design through color and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere to enjoy an evening of whiskey tasting. We wanted to keep that traditional design, yet altering it from rustic traditional to modern traditional.
We preserved the key architectural elements, the brick walls, staircase and flooring, encapsulating the historic past this building has. Venture through the past as you explore our many intricate, cozy spaces to enjoy a unique whiskey tasting experience.
Design is just one aspect of constructing a space; practicality is another that is often forgotten. Weaving practical uses into stunning design is what truly sets apart the good from the great. Without compromising the space, we added another bathroom and modern plumbing to the building, finishing the renovation while keeping the historic value intact.
Our design choices were also inspired by the brand we were working with. Take the stunning eye-catching yellow door for example. This was chosen in-line with the brand’s yellow logo, ensuring the space feels bespoke and authentic, whilst also demanding attention and intrigue.
It is these subtle choices that sets apart a design from the ordinary from the extraordinary, and shows who we are as designers.
